“It would be a dream come true to end my career in the club. I had the privilege of starting out in when I was only nine. Time goes quickly, but I’m really pleased with all the things that Real Madrid has given me and all that I’ve given the club. Now you realise that 13 years have gone by and you hope that there’ll be many more. My favourite memory is without a doubt, the first European Cup I won. It was really special and unique for me because in ten months I went from playing in Real Madrid C, in the Third Division, to playing a Champions League final. (x)

Well, he started to train (jog and kick the ball around) with the physio earlier this week, hopefully by mid-March he’ll be back in full training. :)

Injury update: Onda Cero’s Alberto Pereiro reports that Iker Casillas was operated on this afternoon by Dr. Miguel del Cerro and will stay at the hospital overnight. Two screws were put in place to restructure the metacarpal; they will be there for the rest of his life. Iker’s hand will be in a cast for 4 weeks, and he’ll have 3 weeks of rehab.

Del Cerro told the media after the surgery that Iker’s recovery will take between 8 to 12 weeks. Anything less than 12 weeks would be considered a success. There will be no lasting effects from the surgery.

Injury update: Iker Casillas is expected to have surgery on his left hand Friday morning. Some sources expect a 6-8 week recovery.

Alfonso del Corral, head of the club’s medical services, reportedly made the following statement: “Less than two months is difficult. A football goalkeeper must be able to fall on his hand and face shots at more than 100 kilometres per hour. He must let his hands strengthen without any type of risk.” A two-month spell would make him unavailable until after Real Madrid plays Mallorca the weekend ending March 17.
